The Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (MFDSDAI) at IIT Roorkee is one of the institute's youngest academic units, established in 2021 with generous support from the Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation. We are dedicated to advancing education and research in AI and ML, offering a diverse range of courses across all academic levels.
Our B.Tech. in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence is a robust undergraduate program, designed to equip students with cutting-edge skills. At the postgraduate level, we offer two M.Tech. programs and a Ph.D. program. Each year, we admit around 45 B.Tech. students and 50 M.Tech. students, while currently hosting around 25 Ph.D. scholars. Additionally, professionals from industries and research laboratories pursue sponsored postgraduate studies with us.
MFDSDAI boasts a dynamic team of 22 faculty members, including regular, joint, and visiting faculty with expertise across multiple domains. As we rapidly expand, we have faculty openings at both junior and senior levels and welcome applications for visiting faculty positions. We also encourage fresh Ph.D. candidates to apply for Post-Doctoral fellowship, DST INSPIRE Faculty or National Post-Doctoral Fellowship be a part of our MFDSDAI family.

The mission of the Bhupat & Jyoti Mehta Family Foundation (MFF) is to grow intellectual talent in India in emerging fields of technology. MFF advances this mission by building collaborative relationships between leading international faculty and Indian academic institutions and by creating new schools and degree programs in such fields as data science, artificial intelligence, biosciences, and biomedical engineering.
